Uckfield Fees
School House Nurseries are fabulous places for your child to learn, make friends and thrive as they grow. It’s been that way since we took over the nursery and introduced the Montessori approach 10 years ago.
The level of financial support available to working parents is also at an all-time high, making nursery more affordable than it’s ever been.
Up to 30 hours of grant funding are available for every child of working parents. This covers your child’s basic care and the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
But at The Old School House we believe in going the extra yard in every area of the early years’ experience.
So, we add Additional Services to the basic offering government asks us to provide. These are designed to make your life easier and your child’s experience better.
Let’s start with you. Being a parent of young children is not easy, so we do what we can to shoulder some of the load by:
-
- Buying the day-to-day consumables that a child can’t do without (nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, nappy cream, facewipes).
-
- Laundering blankets and sheets for sleep time.
-
- Supplying all the waterproofs, fleeces, hats and suncream that the children need to enjoy the outdoors throughout the year.
-
- Feeding your children delicious and nutritious breakfasts, lunches, teas and snacks.
-
- Hanging a School House Nursery bag on your child’s peg so you can store spare clothes at nursery.
But the Additional Services are also about the children, about providing them extra-curricular activities that go beyond the EYFS. So we put on events such as the Nativity Play and Graduation where the children can shine.
And we run extra-curricular activities such as yoga, French, Forest School, gardening club, Eco School, outings, walks, a cooking club, PE and music & movement. All of these add to the children’s early years experience.
We do make a charge for these Additional Services. It is modest, and voluntary, and essential for our financial sustainability. We hope you agree that it’s worth it.
Thanks for considering our nursery and we hope to see you soon.

30 hours EYEE grant – the basics that apply to all ages
-
- For working families. Visit the Childcare Choices website to see if you are eligible.
-
- The government calls this grant ‘30 hours childcare support’. What they mean is up to 30 hours grant a week during term time.
-
- We ‘stretch’ the grant to give you consistent monthly invoices throughout the year.
-
- The maximum grant available is for a child whose claim starts in the autumn. They receive 1140 hours in the year (i.e. 30 hours for 38 weeks). When stretched, this means you’ll receive up to 22.35 hours grant a week.
-
- If your claim starts in spring you get 720 hours (i.e. 30 hours a week for 24 weeks). When stretched this amounts to 20.6 hours a week.
-
- If your claim starts in summer you get 390 hours (i.e. 30 hours a week for 13 weeks). When stretched this amounts to 17.7 hours a week.
-
- The start dates of each term for EYEE purposes are:
-
- Autumn – 1st September;
-
- Spring – 1st January;
-
- Summer – 1st April.
-
- The grant year starts again in the autumn.
-
- Our standard fees apply for non-funded hours.
The 30 hours EYEE grant for children aged 9 months to 2 years
-
- You can claim the grant from the term after your child turns 9 months.
The 30 hours EYEE grant for 2 year olds
-
- You can claim the grant from the term after your child turns 2.
The 30 hours EYEE grant for children aged 3 and 4
-
- You can claim the grant from the term after your child turns 3.
15 hours grant for 3 and 4-year-olds
-
- If you’re not eligible for 30 hours you will be eligible for 15 – i.e. everyone is eligible – both parents don’t need to be working.
-
- Available to children from the first term after their third birthday.
-
- The maximum grant available is 570 hours a year (15 hours a week for 38 weeks).
-
- We ‘stretch’ this grant over the 51 weeks we are open to give you consistent bills. Which means you receive 11.2 hours grant a week.
-
- If your claim starts in spring or summer time the amount of grant you receive goes down a little, until the next autumn, when you receive the maximum grant of 570 hours.
-
- Our standard fees apply for non-funded hours.
